Paid research study! Brain imaging of trauma and stress

Have you experienced a trauma or extremely stressful life event?

Would you like to contribute to science?


The Fonzo Lab is a team of researchers and clinicians affiliated with the Dell Medical School at UT Austin.  We are looking for individuals who:


  • Have experienced a life-threatening or traumatic event (e.g., assault, car crash, combat, etc.)
  • Are either currently mentally healthy OR are experiencing difficulty feeling happy, having anxiety, depression, etc.
  • Are between the ages of 21 and 50, predominantly right-handed, and fluent in English
  • Are currently NOT taking daily psychiatric medications and are currently NOT in psychotherapy on a regular basis
  • Are NOT current regular tobacco, nicotine, or e-cigarette users


Study participants will undergo clinical assessments and brain scans in an MRI machine while completing certain behavioral tasks.  Individuals will receive monetary compensation up to $245 as well as free images of their brain!
