You are invited to participate in a research study, entitled “Friendship Paradox.” The study is being conducted by Rajiv Garg of The University of Texas at Austin (rajivgarg.org) and Vineet Kumar of Yale University (som.yale.edu/vineet-kumar).

The purpose of this research study is to examine the extent of diffusion of content that is shared by you versus shared by a friend recruited by you. Your participation in the study will contribute to a better understanding of social influence on online social networks like Facebook.  You are free to contact the investigators above to discuss the study.  You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

If you agree to participate:

·        You will be provided with two random links: one to be shared by you and one to be shared by your randomly selected friend on your (and their) Facebook account.

·        This activity should take no more than 5 minutes of your and your friend’s time.

·        You will be compensated with a $10 gift card from Amazon (or Starbucks) upon completion of both tasks and at the end of study period (estimated to be May 5, 2018). You are welcome to share that reward with your friend.
