LLILAS Benson and the Texas Prison Education Initiative welcome María José Rubin and Sabrina Charaf of the Prison Extension Program, School of Philosophy and Letters, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. About the Presenters

María José Rubin and Sabrina Charaf are coordinators and educators at the Prison Extension Program—Programa de Extensión en Cárceles, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. They are members of the Prison Writing National Meeting organization committee. In this capacity, they develop academic research on prison writing and education as members of university research groups. They have published papers on these topics, and are co-authors of Escribir en la cárcel. Prácticas y experiencias de lectura y escritura en contextos de encierro, a book on reading and writing practices in prison. As part of the Prison Extension Program activities, they work at a project called “La Segunda,” meant for providing educational guidance to former incarcerated students.
