Photography Past and Present: A Conversation with Michael Lesy

Michael Lesy is a Guggenheim Fellow and professor emeritus of Literary Journalism at Hampshire College. He is the author of several books of cultural history through photography, most notably the iconic Wisconsin Death Trip, made into a film in 1999. His most recent book, Looking Backward: A Photographic Portrait of the World at the Beginning of the Twentieth Century (2017), showcases the role of photography in how we remember the past and the lenses through which we understand ourselves in the present. His books have been made into operas, plays, dance performances, and films.

The event is FREE and open to the public. It is sponsored by The Moody College Honors Program, The School of Undergraduate Studies, and the Plan II Honors Program.
