Practical Applications of the Humanities for the Modern Workplace

UT Grad Students Present Practical Applications of the Humanities for the Modern Workplace

  • Is the idea of “corporate culture” a farce?
  • How should organizations prepare for generational differences in approaches to leadership?
  • Is it possible to cultivate identity and belonging in entirely remote teams?
  • When is dissent in an organization productive?
  • How can organizations mitigate the costs of emotional labor?
  • What can business leaders learn from athletics coaches about management in a free-market environment?
  • How can nonprofit organizations maintain a focus on their core mission in periods of growth and success?
  • How can leaders use their agreeable personalities to their advantage?

These intriguing questions and many others have been addressed at previous editions of Practical Applications of the Humanities for the Modern Workplace. You are invited to join us for the 2022 edition of this event, which features exciting research by Master’s degree candidates in the Human Dimensions of Organizations (HDO) program at UT Austin.

Taught by some of the University’s top professors, HDO Master’s students explore a diverse range of disciplines – including psychology, history, sociology, philosophy, anthropology, and rhetoric – and cover topics such as leadership, ethics, communication, change management, and decision-making.

The HDO Class of 2022 will be presenting their Capstone Projects to the public on December 9 on the UT Austin campus. These projects, which explore the applicability of the humanities and social and behavioral sciences to business and nonprofit organizations, serve as a culmination of all the work students have put forth in pursuit of their degree. Students will be on hand to answer general questions about their projects and to explore how their ideas may be applied to your organization.

Light refreshments will be provided.
