DESCRIPTION:Generative AI tools are designed to be easy to use through a ki
nd of conversational interaction that mimics dialog with very knowledgeable
or creative partners. By taking an approach in which user prompts are more
intentionally designed\, however\, and with certain safeguards are in plac
e\, GenAI tools can provide a richer\, transformative experience for design
ing elements of our courses and assignments. As with many other kinds of c
reative or research technologies\, it can be beneficial to have a plan in p
lace before turning to the tools themselves. To be effective in designing p
rompts\, then\, you need to define your context\, the topics about which yo
u are curious\, and the most useful format for the response. \n\nDuring thi
s workshop\, we will share with you CTL resources designed to help you shap
e your interactions with various AI tools. Specifically\, you will learn ab
out the function of AI prompts and practice developing prompts in a teachin
g and learning context through readily available\, appropriate tools.
