Screening: Radio-Television-Film Graduate Thesis Films

Join UT's Department of Radio-Television-Film as we screen MFA thesis films from Ching Wang, Rachel Bardin, Mira K. Lippold-Johnson, Lizette Barrera, Dio Traverso, Daniel Earney, and Huay-Bing Law. More details below.

Before the event, we will serve coffee and light refreshments in the lobby area. We start the thesis screening at 5:00 PM. Stick around till the end of the screening for a brief Q&A with the filmmakers.


MFA THESIS FILMS - FALL 2017:

DOLLY • Ching Wang
Horror Comedy | 21 min.
In order to save her little family of two, a moody eight-year-old girl must combat the strange influence a mysterious doll has over her lonely, single father.

ANIMAL FACTS CLUB PRESENTS • Rachel Bardin
Web Series, Science education | 16.3 min.
This artistic educational series presents facts about interesting Texas animals. We will show 3 episodes, interspersed in the program.

BAD THINGS • Mira K. Lippold-Johnson
Drama | 22 min.
When her older sister is unjustly suspended from school, eight-year-old Sue Ellen starts to doubt that brains and hard work are enough to ward off trouble. Bad teachers, prejudices, a bully—there are impediments to success. So Sue Ellen takes a drastic step to seize control.

An ill-tempered teenager’s attempt to find peaceful solitude on the day of her grandfather’s passing is interrupted when an estranged friend pays her a visit.

JACK RABBIT • Dio Traverso

A mute boy squares off against Death itself in order to save his sick grandmother.

THE BACKUP PLAN • Daniel Earney

When a down-on-his-luck single father faces eviction, he begins stealing car parts to save his home.

An immigrant Chinese wife tries to fit in at her husband's graduation reception in 1955 Texas.
