DESCRIPTION:Please join us March 23rd to learn about Proyecto oriGen\, or t
 he OriGen Project\, a flagship initiative of Tecnológico de Monterrey to 
 create a genomic database of 100\,000 Mexican citizens that is integrated 
 with clinical-epidemiological data and a sample biorepository. The aim of 
 the project is to promote the development of research that has an impact o
 n the health of the country.\n\nThe project’s director\, Dr. Pablo Kuri\
 , will discuss how OriGen was developed\, its significance\, its current s
 tate\, and future directions.\n\nDr. Kuri is a physician and epidemiologis
 t with over three decades of experience in health security\, pandemics\, a
 nd health systems. Prior to leading Project OriGen\, Dr. Kuri was Director
  General of Epidemiology and of the National Center for Epidemiological Su
 rveillance and Disease Control at the Ministry of Health. As Undersecretar
 y of Health\, he was responsible for Mexico's response to threats such as 
 anthrax\, SARS\, influenza\, Ebola\, and Zika\, among others. He was a pro
 fessor on the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of
  Mexico (UNAM) for 34 years and is a member of the National Academy of Med
 icine and Academic Secretary of the National Council of Public Health.
