DESCRIPTION:You are invited to participate in a research study being conduc
ted by researchers in the School of Information at The University of Texas
at Austin. The purpose of this study is to understand how people interact
with\, and form trust judgments about online communication. Your particip
ation will contribute to a better understanding of the factors that influe
nce trust in online communication. The study will be held in the Informat
ion eXperience Lab at the School of Information (5th floor of the UTA buil
ding). During the study\, you will be required to sit in front of a deskto
p computer on which you will complete several survey questions as well as
read and assess news-related tweets. The desktop computer will be equipp
ed with hardware and software to track your eye movements and assess your
facial expressions. The eye-tracking software allows for participants who
do not wear corrective lenses or who use simple (single-lens\, non-progres
sive) eyeglasses or contact lenses to correct near-sightedness\, far-sight
edness\, and/or astigmatism. However\, due to limitations in the eye track
ing software\, unfortunately we will not be able to accept participants wh
o use bifocal or progressive lenses\; who have had eye surgery\; or who ha
ve eye abnormalities such as amblyopia\, strabismus\, or nystagmus. Parti
cipation will take approximately 60 minutes. If you meet the study criteri
a and complete all study tasks\, you will receive a $20 Amazon.com Gift Ca

with\, and form trust judgments about online communication.
