About this Event
REGISTER HERE Participants who register by May 19th are eligible to receive a $100 stipend to cover mileage and parking at UT - exceptions are noted in the FAQ. This full-day professional development session is designed to help K–12 educators make meaningful connections between Texas and the wider world. Together, we’ll explore how Texas both influences and is influenced by global trends in history, economics, culture, migration, and more. The goal is to make these connections practical and relevant—so teachers can bring both global perspectives into Texas-focused courses and Texas examples into globally focused lessons. In the morning, we’ll dig into content and examples that highlight these two-way connections. Through real-world case studies, discussion, and ready-to-use resources, participants will explore topics like trade, energy, cultural exchange, and migration, all through a Texas-to-global and global-to-Texas lens. You’ll walk away with ideas you can immediately bring into your classroom, whether you teach social studies, economics, geography, or beyond. The afternoon will be more hands-on and collaborative. Teachers will have time to work with peers, share ideas, and get feedback on ways to incorporate global content into their courses. Whether you’re starting from scratch or refining existing lessons, this session is designed to give you space to think, create, and connect with others doing similar work. By the end of the day, you’ll have practical strategies, new perspectives, and a set of ideas you can confidently take back to your classroom. FAQ 1. Who is eligible to receive the $100 stipend? All participants who register by May 19th are eligible, with the exception of those in the US on a visa (this is due to UT business procedures). If you are on a visa, you may be eligible for gas mileage reimbursement rather than a stipend-- please reach out to us. After the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will receive stipends via mailed check. 2. May I still register after the May 19th deadline? Absolutely! The registration form will remain open until all spots are filled and you are welcome to register. Please note, however, that after the deadline you are no longer eligible to receive the stipend. 3. Where can I park? We will share information about location and parking options on UT campus as we near the workshop date.
