This roundtable will explore the timely topic of Central American migration, with a special emphasis on the effects of large-scale migration on the region itself. Our two invited external discussants, Sr. Norma Pimentel and Dr. Manuel Orozco, will discuss the human costs and benefits of migration. Our internal panelists, Stephanie Leutert and Gordon Dee Smith, will explore migration’s ramifications from the perspectives of policy and security not just in the United States, but also from the points of view of the sending countries.
Presented by the Cátedra Ernesto Cardenal, which sponsors a yearly event highlighting Central America, a region of Latin America that is central to LLILAS Benson’s collections and programmatic offerings.
