About this Event
Join UT'S Center for the Study of Race and Democracy (CSRD) and Notley Tide in an online conversation about how the Model Minority Myth of Asian Americans has been used to uphold the status quo in the U.S. and how it has continued to play out in society today, its effects on the Asian American community as well as other communities of color, and how we can dismantle it to advance racial justice.
• Origins of the Model Minority Myth
• How the Model Minority Myth has affected the Asian American Community and created a wedge between communities of color
• Building Coalitions & Allies
• The vast and varied Asian American experience
• What can we do to dismantle?
Notley Tide is proud to have generated over $170K in direct contributions to our racial justice nonprofits, including the CSRD, thanks to the Tide community and our corporate supporters.
ABOUT CSRD
The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for the Study of Race and Democracy is housed in the LBJ School of Public Affairs. CSRD's mission is to facilitate anti-racism research and programming dedicated to reshaping policies that lead to the end of racial inequality. By supporting pedagogical and policy innovations of scholars, activists, and experts working to eliminate systemic racism in educational, corporate, government, civic and cultural spaces, CSRD aims to foster new ways of implementing racial justice initiatives dedicated to the achievement of a just, equitable, and inclusive society.
ABOUT NOTLEY TIDE
Notley Tide provides and sustains funding, new donor engagement, and capacity-building resources for racial justice-focused nonprofits. We achieve this in partnership with our community of monthly givers and corporate partners who commit to engage with racial justice on an ongoing basis, not just when it’s trending.
