UT Energy Symposium: "How to Make Power Converters Small and Efficient – and Why" with Alex Hanson

Electrical power conversion is a bottleneck in many applications, including data centers, manned lunar and Mars bases, solar energy, and portable devices (all examples straight from current research projects in the Power Electronics and Magnetics Group).  This talk will explain how power converters play such a crucial role, why they’re so hard to improve, and how to improve them anyway.  This will be an accessible, high-level introduction to a highly multi-disciplinary field.
