About this Event
The Stice lab is recruiting female participants for a 6-month longitudinal study. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to one of two programs that research suggests will increase body satisfaction and reduce eating problems. In one condition, participants will attend 8 weekly 50-minute educational-support group meetings. In the other condition, participants will attend 8 weekly 50-minute body acceptance classes. The classes are designed to help women feel better about their bodies. During the meetings, participants complete a series of written and verbal exercises intended to increase body satisfaction by helping them think critically about the ultra-slender ideal and discussing some of the pitfalls associated with pursuit of this ideal. Participants who are eligible for fMRI scans might be asked to undergo pre- and post-treatmet scans. These participants will receive additonal compensation and a picture of their brain.
