https://police.utexas.edu/services/victims-advocate-networkThe UTPD Victims Advocate Network is a cadre of volunteers drawn from UT faculty and staff to serve UT faculty and staff, as well as unaffiliated persons impacted by crime on campus. We work together with the police department to help employees be safe and feel safe on campus. If you are interested in becoming an advocate and providing caring support to your fellow community members, please join us for an information session at the UT Police Department. Volunteers receive valuable training both internally and through collaboration with Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Austin Police Department. One requirement for serving in the VAN is taking this online course from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Texas Victim Assistance Training (TVAT) You will need to register as a new user. After all modules have been completed, please send the certification of completion to the VAN Coordinator, Mayra Sigala-Ramon at mayra.sigala@austin.utexas.edu
